Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the iPhone app Your Home ("the app", "we", "us")
handles information. Your Home is an app for people who share a household, so some of what you put
in it is deliberately shared with your housemates — this page is mostly about being clear which
parts those are, and which parts are only ever yours. We do not sell your personal information.
Information the app handles
-
Your account. You sign in with Apple or with an email address and password.
We store a display name and, where it is provided, an email address. If you use Sign in with
Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.
-
Your household's data. The bills you add, their amounts and schedules, how they
are split, what has been paid and settled, your shared lists and their items, the household's
name and — if somebody adds one — its address. This is shared with the other members of
your household, which is the point of the app.
-
Your profile photo. Optional. If you add one it is stored for your household to
see next to your name.
-
Your income. Optional, and private to you. If you tell the app
what you earn, it is stored against your own account so it can show what's left after your share
of the bills. Your housemates cannot read it, and nothing shared — no split, no balance, no
settlement — is calculated from it.
-
Feedback you send us. If you use "Send feedback", we receive your message along
with your user id, the app version and your device model, so we can make sense of the report.
-
Diagnostics. Anonymous crash reports and diagnostic data that tell us the app
has failed and roughly where, so we can fix it.
-
Advertising data. Data used to serve and measure ads in the free version of the
app (see below).
-
On-device data. Your appearance settings, the privacy (hide amounts) setting, and
the figures shown on any home-screen widget you add are kept on your device.
Third-party services
Some data is processed by trusted third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:
-
Google Firebase — hosts the app's accounts, database, server functions and file
storage, and reports crashes. This is where your household's data lives.
See Firebase's privacy information
and Google's Privacy Policy.
-
Google AdMob — serves the ads in the free version of the app. Where the law
requires it — in the UK and the EEA — the app shows a consent request before any ad is loaded,
and iOS asks separately for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Ads are personalised only where you have agreed to that; if you decline, you still get ads, just
generic ones. You can change your answer at any time from Ad privacy choices on the
Profile screen, and iOS tracking permission from Settings.
See how Google uses data for advertising.
-
Apple App Store (StoreKit) — the one-off purchase that removes ads is processed by
Apple. We are told whether you own it; we never see your payment details.
This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
-
Apple Sign in with Apple / Apple Push Notification service — used to sign you in
and, if you turn notifications on, to deliver them. Also governed by
Apple's Privacy Policy.
What your housemates can and cannot see
- They can see: your display name and photo, the bills you add and how they're split, what you've marked as paid, your balance with them, and everything on the household's shared lists.
- They cannot see: your income, your email address, the feedback you send us, or your appearance and privacy settings.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not read your contacts, photos or location. An address you add to your household is one you typed in yourself.
- We do not use your income, or anything else you mark as private, to target ads.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your household's data is kept for as long as the household exists, because it is a shared record —
what has been paid, and by whom, has to stay true for everybody in it.
- Leaving a household (Profile → Leave) removes you from it. The history of what was already paid stays with the household, as the other members' records depend on it.
- Deleting your account (Profile → Delete account) removes your account and personal details, including your income and profile photo.
- Deleting the app removes the data kept on your device, but not your account. Use Delete account first if that is what you want.
- You can also email us and we will action any request about your data.
Children's privacy
Your Home is a general-audience app for managing a household and is not directed at children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided
personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export or erase the personal
data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how it is used. Most of this is available in the
app; for anything else, email us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated"
date at the top of this page.
